Do you really have what it takes to get paid for doing what you love to do? Well that’s what you’re here to find out right? I have been asking myself that very same question for over 10 years. And after that many years of research, and a failed attempt or two at running my own business’ and several lost causes at being scammed. I finally found the answers. Trust me, Your not going to get rich quick, and definitely not OVER NIGHT…. SO! Knowing that… DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES ? ? ? read on if you do
The first thing you have to do is Change Your Mindset: You no longer can look at your Craft as a Hobby (financially also “taxes”) The moment you decided to Sell your “crafts” and become a business you no longer can call yourself a hobbyist, instead you are now well on the road to becoming a craft-preneur. Or if you wish, Entrepreneur if you wish to be called that Instead.
Get Your Name Out there: create Buzz / build up Buzz about your Name / Business name and who you are / what your about as well as a website / blog for people to go check you out, tell the online public where they can find you .. Creating Buzz by getting your crafts into as many hands as possible, such as giving sample products to friends along with business cards featuring your logo / website - e-commerce shop such as Shopify.com or Yahoo! / blog or online shop at Etsy, but also check out other online craft marketplaces, such as ArtFire.com and SupermarketHQ.com ect…
Give your items as gifts, offer to host local events such as trunk shows for neighbors, friends, church events..But don’t forget about local boutique and shop owners too… If your product fits their store, why not ask to sell on consignment or have them buy it outright. Be sure to take your products with you EVERYWHERE you go because you never know when an opportunity will arise. Start selling your crafts at fairs (craft fairs) and festivals.. Google is a great place to do research.. search your local states name to lead you to the local “craftique” markets.
Something I found great was if your business is specific like Soapmaking, Baking ect.. You could host parties for specific categories… example “teens”, “new babies”, “weddings”, ect..
You would think this would be all you need, end of story, business is good.. No, you would be wrong.. There more to it, much more.. so keep reading…
Check Thursday for the next steps to take, trust me it is well worth it…
Just remember, these are JUST my opinions and other Random thoughts, Please try not to be offended. You can just hit the big red X at the top of the page if you don’t like what your reading…
