(pronounced chew-WOW) is the first Venezuelan Chocolatier based in the United States and Southern California’s premier artisan chocolatier. Read more below. My package arrived and I was very excited to see it.
MY THOUGHTS: I have to say, I wanted a complete surprise reaction when I tried the chocolates because everyone knows that if you know what’s in it, you set yourself up for an opinion before you even taste it. This worked of course, except for the Chocolate bar with Potato chips. This one is: Potato Chips in Chocolate Bar Set - Premium milk chocolate with kettle cooked, lightly salted potato chips. for $18
First off I took a bite out of the first chocolate, it was a strawberry drenched with Port wine. It was a fine blend of smooth dark chocolate coating with a creamy ganache surrounding a dried strawberry. It melted in my mouth and left me wanting more. ** It was called – Love Child – Purchase here: 5 port-wine drenched dried strawberries enrobed in dark chocolate ganache. $15
(left is the Love Child, on the right is the Firecracker).
Now, for the other chocolate. It was very shocking. I certainly wasn’t expecting what I got. It was the chocolate that was meant for the “Him” of the couple. It was a perfect marriage of luscious chocolate, popping candy and hot pepper. I sure as heck wasn’t expecting the crackling feeling of the pop rocks type candy especially the topping off with a lil heat on the tongue. ** It was called Firecracker Truffles <—click to view / purchase - Get fired up about Firecracker Truffles! Caramel fudge, chipotle, salt & popping candy! Package containing 16 Truffles for $39.95
Since I read the package before I opened it, I knew what to expect, and Almost didn’t try it. I mean, who in their right mind puts potatoe chips (salt and all) in a chocolate bar? Well, Chuao does and thank goodness they do. That was the most sensual and gratifying milk chocolate bar I had tasted in a very long time. It made me feel like I was sitting in a bubble bath sipping on some wine and having a time out for myself.
