Activities for passing the time

Posted on | October 23, 2012 | No Comments

Clock  It happens to the best of us. One minute we’ll be run off our feet, and the next we’ll have all this free time to fill, and no idea how to do so. I guess that’s the plight of the hard working human. Whether you have a career, and a sudden day to yourself, or you’re a stay at home parent with unprecedented time away from the family, we forget there are other ways to occupy our time.

Some options for you to think about:

Xbox  Play games - You can get out your smartphone for your favorite gaming apps, play on the console, or check out games online like Cheekybingo, Minecraft, or Sudoku.  Minecraft is one of my daughters favorite games to play these days. There’s a wealth of games waiting to be discovered and played, so what better time to give them a go?

Household chores - All the chores we have been putting off can be taken care of. For example, we can finally get the three weeks worth of washing done, run errands which have been delayed, and know we’ve had a productive day. How about painting that bathroom that you’ve been putting off for weeks? Or maybe you’ve been needing to re-organize those cabinets In the laundry room…

Dancing around the house – Who is too embarrassed to dance when others are around? Don’t pass up the opportunity to be silly when you have the house to yourself. Crank up the music and perform your silliest dance moves. It’s liberating to dance for your audience of dust bunnies and ghosts.

Walking - Take the dog for a walk, or go by yourself for a couple of hours. The fresh air does wonders to clear your mind. Plus, you can have a think about the issues you put off when busy, and sort through them.

Learn a new craft – You could practice playing the keyboard, learn how to create graphics on the computer, take up knitting or any number of activities that require a skill to be learned. There’s always teaching your daughter or granddaughter how to bake cupcakes or rice Krispy treats.

Invite friends over - If you never have time to see your friends, invite them round for some coffee or dinner, or meet them at a rendezvous point. Then you can have a catch-up and feel for an hour or two.
