100 lessons kids should learn *guest post

1.

The world does not owe you anything.

You have to earn what you have. No one is going to give you a life, love or happiness. Same goes for a house, a job and a way of life. Work hard, make the right decisions and you’ll get what you want.

2.

Don’t be a victim of bullying

Others may think you’re different but so are they and it’s none of their business. Kids may call you names but that doesn’t describe who you are. If a kid tries to physically hurt you, stand up for yourself. Tell them to stop or you will tell your teacher, parent or even the police. If you feel they’re going to physically hurt you, fight back. Kick them between the legs, punch them in the nose or hit them with your books and run for help. Unless you stand up to a bully, they will always come after you. Think of it as taking a bandage off. If you go slowly, it hurts for a while. Pull it off quickly and it hurts for a fraction of a second and the pain stops. Let the adults worry about why he’s a bully.

3.

People have died for your freedom. Don’t give it up.

Kids as young as 16 have fought and died in World Wars and soldiers today are risking and losing their lives so that you can go to school, play video games, wear baggy pants and complain about how tough your parents are on you.

4.

Dreaming is a waste of time if you don’t do something about it.

If you want to be a rock star, learn an instrument and practice, practice, practice. If you want to be a pro athlete, play the game and practice, practice, practice. If you want to be the one who finds a cure for cancer then go to school and study, study, study.

5.

Respect the law.

The law is there to protect you, your family, your stuff and your way of life. Those who don’t respect the law are usually the ones breaking the law.

MY THOUGHTS:

Simply put and to the point. Brian doesn’t fuss around. If you want the truth, no holds barred there it is, laid out for you..  That’s what I like… Love the Lessons and I highly recommend you head on over and have your teen read them… I would have my kids read his advice any day of the week.

1..  Oh yes.. Why is that kids today think the world owes them everything?  Where on earth did they get this idea? My kids see that other kids have cell phones and Ipads and fancy expensive shoes… I live on a budget and it sure as heck doesn’t include an ipad or a $200 a month phone bill for $400 phone.. And he wants it for FREE (no chores and do nothing for me to earn it. ) lol.. Um.. Say what?  Yeah, I would have already lost a handful of hair, a slap in the face, grounded for a month, been shoveling cow dung out of the barn and hiking to school by now just for the mere mention of such evil things.. to my parents. lol

2..  I’m guessing from Brian’s opinion on Bullying that he’s not all for the “NO TOLLERANCE” rule. Unfortunately the NO TOLLERANCE rule isn’t for the victims either, they can’t fight back and win.. My children have been the victims of bullying and fought back, ended up being the one’s being punished by the system BECAUSE they fought back when the school had the NO TOLLERANCE rule in place. The children are not allowed to fight back, physically NOR Verbally…  THIS I DO NOT SUPPORT…  In many cases my children got bullied, the bully got away and my children got punished.. In 2 cases my children were harmed in severe ways. My oldest son’s hand was broken and another time he was tripped and fell down a flight of stairs. Both times the “teachers” present claimed to ‘not see a thing’…   My point is…  Bullying is not monitored nearly enough and the RULES that schools have in place are Laughable…

3.. Hoorah… I agree.  Quit bitching grab a Kleenex, take some tums and go to school your fine.  Seriously though… It look a lot for us to get the freedoms we have today. People lose sight of that, kids today don’t even know about it and they are throwing it all away and taking advantage of it as if it’s all for nothing. They have no idea.  my oldest son is now out there serving our country… My children will know why they have the opportunities that they do and they will appreciate them. OR ELSE.

4.  Dreaming is awesome. If your going to dream then dream big. but hey. Don’t waste your time dreaming about something if all your going to do is sit there griping about how you wish this and wish that if you have no plans of ever doing anything about it… Brian is right…  Don’t expect it to be easy or “blink” and you’re a billionaire. Because yep, then your dreamin’ buddy… That’s why its called “work”… because it’s hard…

5.  If you don’t get why the Law is there and why we have rules, then you need to go back to school.. common sense people….. Exactly what Brian said. No body want’s to be associated with or to have an idiot that disrespects you or the law as a friend.. Think about it.
